About the position
Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner, performs technical review, tracks, and processes departmental building permits. Completes the necessary review of the permit submittals and provides technical commentary in writing as appropriate. Performs field inspections when appropriate and at the direction of the Deputy Commissioner to support or dispute claims, verify plan submittals, support field inspectors, consult with project engineers, and administer professional service contracts. This position is eligible for a signing bonus.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical review of departmental building permits.
- Track and process building permits.
- Complete necessary reviews of permit submittals.
- Provide technical commentary in writing as appropriate.
- Perform field inspections to support or dispute claims.
- Verify plan submittals and support field inspectors.
- Consult with project engineers.
- Administer professional service contracts.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
- Two (2) years as a civil engineer or directly related experience.
- Valid driver's license with proof of insurance.
Nice-to-haves
- Two (2) years of work experience in stormwater management and design or review of site improvement plans.
- Certification as a Certified Floodplain Manager.
- One (1) or more years of work experience using AutoCAD or similar software.
