About the position
The Civil Engineer Co-op position at Burgess & Niple offers an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in transportation infrastructure projects. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to collaborate with experienced engineers and enhance their skills in various aspects of civil engineering, particularly in transportation.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate and learn from experienced professional engineers on transportation infrastructure projects.
- Work on traffic and safety analysis, roadway/highway design, complete streets design, drainage design, and surveying.
- Increase knowledge in preliminary plan creation, CAD design, plan production, cost estimation, and geometric design.
- Gain drafting and design skills in MicroStation and AutoCAD on various roadway projects.
- Coordinate with adjacent disciplines such as traffic, structural, and environmental engineering.
Requirements
- Current student in good academic standing pursuing a degree in engineering (civil preferred) from an ABET accredited college or university.
- Completed at least two years of undergraduate degree.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is a plus.
- Self-motivated and adaptable, with the capability to learn virtual collaboration tools.
- Strong interest in developing diverse civil engineering skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
