About the position

The City of Warrensburg, Missouri is seeking a dedicated and collaborative City Manager to lead the city's operations and shape its future. This role involves overseeing municipal departments, engaging with the community, and driving economic development initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and community-focused leader, passionate about fostering collaboration and innovation within the city.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the city's operations, overseeing all municipal departments including Police, Fire, Public Works, and Community Development.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the City Council, city staff, and the community.
• Collaborate with key community partners to ensure the success and growth of the city.
• Act as the city's representative in external meetings, media relations, and with state and federal agencies.
• Prepare and manage the annual budget, ensuring the city's financial health and long-term sustainability.
• Drive the city's economic development initiatives, working to attract and retain businesses that align with Warrensburg's values and goals.
• Manage special projects, including the Rethink-Rebuild-Revive Maguire corridor project.

Requirements

• A minimum of seven years in progressively responsible roles within local government is required.
• A bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, or a closely related field is required; master's degree preferred.
• ICMA Credentialed Manager (or equivalent top-tier professional certification) preferred.
• Proven experience in building and leading high-performing teams.
• Exceptional communication skills, including public speaking and engaging with various audiences.

Nice-to-haves

• Additional leadership development or specialized certifications in municipal management are a plus.
• Experience as a City Manager or Assistant City Manager is preferred.
