About the position

The Convenience Store Team Member plays a vital role in providing excellent customer service at Chisholm Corner Convenience Store. This part-time position involves assisting customers, managing transactions, and maintaining store cleanliness and organization. The team member is expected to create a positive shopping atmosphere while ensuring compliance with safety and legal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provides friendly customer service and welcomes customers to the store.
• Assists customers in locating items and purchasing store merchandise.
• Verifies customer's age by asking for appropriate identification.
• Processes customer transactions using the POS system, including cash and credit card purchases.
• Develops relationships with customers and addresses their concerns or issues.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of the store, including dusting shelves and cleaning windows.
• Stocks and organizes store merchandise as needed and assists with inventory management.
• Ensures gas pumps are operating properly and calls for assistance when necessary.
• Participates in merchandising and displaying products, and assists with product resets.
• Complies with safety requirements to prevent loss and ensure store readiness.

Requirements

• Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and team members.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies.
• Training and knowledge of cash register, box cutter, gas console equipment, and lifting techniques.
• Knowledge of company security regulations and laws regarding the sale of alcohol and tobacco products.
• Effective mathematical skills for money handling.
• Ability to obtain liquor licensure as required by state or local municipality.

Nice-to-haves

• 3-6 months customer service experience preferred.
• Prior experience with cash register and cash handling recommended.
