About the position
The Children's Minister at Saint John United Methodist Church is responsible for sharing the love of Christ with the church family, particularly children, and engaging with the community to spread the Gospel. This full-time position involves overseeing children's ministry programs, recruiting and training volunteers, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children during church activities.
Responsibilities
- Recruit volunteers for various children's programs and events.
- Communicate with volunteers and parents through phone calls, emails, and notes.
- Prepare and review curriculum and order supplies for children's worship and studies.
- Lead weekly worship services and discipleship for children.
- Supervise children's areas on Sunday mornings and ensure classrooms are prepared for teachers.
- Plan and coordinate space usage for Sunday School and Awana programs.
- Organize special events throughout the year, such as Vacation Bible School and seasonal festivals.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and participate in leadership development activities.
- Coordinate Safe Sanctuaries training compliance across all children's programs.
Requirements
- Committed to Jesus as personal Savior
- Passion for working with children
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office
- Prior work experience in children's ministry preferred.
