About The Position

Under the direction of the Childcare Supervisor, they are responsible for the supervision and interaction of children in the childcare center. This role involves ensuring the safety and operation of the childcare area within the Fitness Center, greeting parents, managing check-in/check-out procedures, and orienting parents about policies. The attendant will develop and implement activities for children, administer discipline when necessary, and maintain the cleanliness of both the children and the childcare area. This includes assisting children with hygiene, cleaning spills, tidying toys, and vacuuming. The role also requires attending to minor injuries, filling out accident reports, and maintaining a professional atmosphere within the Fitness Center. The attendant must conduct themselves professionally, wear the proper uniform, handle patron feedback, and foster positive public relations and excellent customer service for patrons and their children. Additionally, they are expected to help keep the Fitness Center clean and uncluttered, set a positive example for colleagues, and maintain effective working relationships. Attending staff meetings, providing input for childcare area planning, and discussing concerns with appropriate personnel are also key duties. Other assigned duties may include assisting with events like the Kids Summer Kickoff.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must submit to a criminal background and fingerprint check.
  • Excellent public relations skills.
  • Willing and available to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts.
  • Ability to relate well with children and be patient with them.
  • Able to work under stressful conditions.
  • Willingness to assist others.
  • Ability to hold all matters related to staff and patrons as confidential and to discuss related matters with only the appropriate individuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous childcare experience.
  • Educational background in childhood development or related field.
  • CPR/AED and/or First Aid certification (required within 90 days, certification will be paid for by the District).

Responsibilities

  • Supervision and interaction of children in the childcare center.
  • Ensuring the safety and operation of the childcare area of the Fitness Center.
  • Greeting parents and ensuring proper check-in/check-out procedures are followed.
  • Orienting parents about policies and procedures.
  • Attentively watching and attending to the children.
  • Developing and implementing activities for children.
  • Disciplining children when necessary, using appropriate and authorized techniques.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the children and the childcare area (e.g., bathroom assistance, hand washing, cleaning spills, tidying toys, vacuuming).
  • Treating children if they are hurt and filling out accident reports.
  • Maintaining the professional atmosphere of the Fitness Center.
  • Conducting oneself in a professional manner and being dressed in proper uniform.
  • Handling patron complaints and/or comments or referring them to the proper personnel.
  • Maintaining positive public relations for the Facility.
  • Providing excellent customer service to patrons and their children.
  • Helping to keep the Fitness Center clean and uncluttered.
  • Setting a positive example for other employees.
  • Assuming responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relations with other employees and management.
  • Attending all staff meetings.
  • Providing input for childcare area planning and discussing problems and concerns with appropriate personnel.
  • Assisting with the Kids Summer Kickoff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
