Responsibilities

  • Respond to assigned referrals regarding alleged child abuse or neglect when an assessment is necessary.
  • Determine whether or not abuse or neglect has occurred.
  • Write reports.
  • Identify any child safety threats.
  • Develop protective actions and ongoing safety plans when children would be unsafe without intervention of the agency.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Human Services or a field related to human service.
  • A bachelor's degree unrelated to Human Services and either one year of Human Services related experience or completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency.
  • An associate degree and either two years of Human Services related experience or one year of Human Services related experience and related training, coursework or certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using computer technology including, Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Experience building collaborative relationships with community partners and people.
  • Experience writing documents or reports that include a conclusion and recommended action (examples: case plans, court reports, investigative reports).
  • Experience using crisis intervention or conflict resolution techniques.
  • Experience making critical decisions during dynamic and evolving circumstances and information.
  • Experience applying an equitable and trauma-informed approach.
