About the position
The Child Nutrition Worker II position at Santa Teresa High School involves preparing, cooking, and baking a variety of foods in large quantities while adhering to established recipes and nutritional guidelines. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work under general supervision. The worker may also lead and monitor student assistants, ensuring that food preparation meets safety and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and bake a variety of foods according to established recipes and nutritional guidelines.
- Assemble and prepare foods for cooking and serving, including sandwiches and salads.
- Dishes up food items into individual servings that meet established guidelines.
- Set up, serve, and inventory food items before and after service.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work areas and serving counters.
- Operate and clean food service equipment and machines.
- Wash pots, pans, and serving equipment.
- Inventory stored food and package leftovers appropriately.
- Maintain records related to food served and prepare routine reports.
- Perform cashiering duties as assigned, including receiving money and making change.
- Direct and monitor the work of student assistants as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of basic institutional baking and cooking practices.
- Knowledge of nutrition, sanitation, and safety principles related to food preparation.
- Ability to read, interpret, and adjust recipes effectively.
- Ability to prepare food in large quantities within time constraints.
- Ability to apply proper sanitation and safety requirements in food preparation.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
- Ability to operate food service appliances and equipment safely.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
- Ability to perform routine arithmetical calculations accurately.
