About the position
The Child Care Worker is responsible for providing direct care services to children and adolescents in a psychiatric hospital setting. This role involves maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, implementing treatment plans, and supporting the development of self-care and social skills through daily activities and patient interactions.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care service to children and adolescents under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for the patient group.
- Implement aspects of the treatment plan through patient interactions.
- Teach and develop self-care and social skills.
- Organize and participate in patient activities.
Requirements
- Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits), including 15 semester (22 term) credits in human service areas such as psychology, sociology, or nursing.
- For Child Care Worker E9: One year of experience equivalent to a Child Care Worker 8 and completion of the Department of Health and Human Services' approved training program.
- Alternate education: Three years of experience as a Youth Specialist may substitute for the education and experience requirements.
