About the position

This position provides developmentally appropriate care and early education to children of Staff, Faculty, and Students of the University by creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. The role involves conducting programs and activities that implement the emergent curriculum of the classroom, developing and maintaining mutually supportive relationships with individual parents, monitoring and supporting each child's individual development, and maintaining overall responsibility for classroom functioning.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children
  • Conducting programs and activities that implement the emergent curriculum of the classroom
  • Developing and maintaining mutually supportive relationships with individual parents
  • Monitoring and supporting each child's individual development
  • Maintaining overall responsibility for classroom functioning

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in ECE or related field plus 1 year of supervised experience in a licensed child development center or equivalent
  • Strong relationship and communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge and use of technology (email, calendar, internet, PowerPoint, google docs)
  • Experience working in a high quality early childhood program
  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification (required within 30 days of employment)
  • Ability to lift children and materials up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to push a manually operated buggy containing up to 6 children
  • Sight and sound supervision within classrooms, playgrounds, and outdoor areas
  • Ability to walk on campus and lift boxes/move furniture
  • Ability to be active with children (music and movement activities), sit on the floor, and get on child's level

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in ECE
