About the position

The Child and Family Therapist position at Sea Mar's Behavioral Health Department in Mount Vernon, WA, is a full-time role focused on providing individual and family therapy, case management, crisis stabilization, and treatment planning. The therapist will work collaboratively with other healthcare providers and community partners to ensure comprehensive care for children and families, while also being involved in educational and psycho-educational activities. This role requires flexibility in working hours and settings, including schools and non-traditional environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and/or family therapy and case management.
  • Conduct crisis stabilization and develop treatment plans based on accurate diagnoses.
  • Collaborate with medication providers, primary physicians, and community partners for coordinated care.
  • Maintain documentation of mental health services and patient charts.
  • Educate staff on mental health service referrals and psycho-educational topics.
  • Conduct formal and informal diagnostic assessments for patients and document outcomes.
  • Involve family members in the assessment and treatment planning process.
  • Refer patients to psychiatric and medication management services as appropriate.
  • Provide suicide risk assessments and develop treatment plans for suicidal ideation.
  • Support staff regarding mental health needs and maintain confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in psychology, counseling, or social work with coursework in psychological diagnostics.
  • Licensed in Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT), Mental Health Counseling (LMHC), or Social Work (LICSW or LASW).
  • Active Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor License or mental health Associate License if not licensed.
  • Child Mental Health Specialist credential or working towards it.
  • Understanding of Behavioral Health Organization and managed care systems.
  • Ability to accurately diagnose mental health issues and develop treatment plans.
  • Experience working with children and families.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Experience with evidence-based models and wrap-around services.
