About The Position

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for the oversight of all clinical services provided by OCHC. This role involves strategic management of clinical operations, including supervision of various directors and coordinators, leading recruitment and selection of medical providers, and ensuring the integration of medical services into OCHC’s comprehensive offerings. The CMO also provides direct clinical care to patients and assists staff with treatment modalities. This position requires a deep understanding of quality improvement, adherence to regulations, and development of medical policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board-certified in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Psychiatry.
  • Current State of Minnesota medical license.
  • Current DEA License.
  • Five or more years of experience in practicing medicine.
  • Working knowledge of total quality management concepts, statistical tools, and continuous quality improvement techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the operating requirements of primary care programs funded by HRSA preferred.
  • Experience working with patients with low-income and other barriers to care.
  • Management experience in an FQHC.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of all clinical services provided by OCHC.
  • Supervises and evaluates the Dental Director, Eye Director, Behavioral Health Director, Chiropractic Director, and QA/QI Coordinator.
  • Serves as the Director of Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement.
  • Creates and monitors the Continuous Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Presents monthly reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Leads the recruitment and selection process for medical providers.
  • Performs clinical supervision of medical providers, including regular performance appraisals, fitness for duty, and competence assessments.
  • Provides supervision of clinical scheduling, call, and leave for medical staff.
  • Provides supervision of continuing professional education, in-service training, and orientation of new providers.
  • Approves student affiliation agreements and student rotations, responsible for the overall performance of clinical students in the health center.
  • Ensures integration of medical services into OCHC’s overall comprehensive services.
  • Advises on the purchase of medical equipment.
  • Leads planning for the development and/or improvement of clinical programs.
  • Facilitates medical staff/provider meetings.
  • Performs or delegates responsibility for quarterly peer reviews.
  • Develops and monitors standards of care, medical policies, and procedures.
  • Is responsible for the credentialing and privileging of the medical staff.
  • Keeps abreast of FTCA and HRSA regulations and advises the management team on necessary changes.
  • Serves as the Laboratory Director.
  • Provides direct clinical care to patients.
  • Assists staff with treatment modalities pertinent to OCHC patient populations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to the Standards and Expectations of Clinical Providers.
