About The Position

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer is responsible for leading all Marketing and Corporate Communication activities for K-LOVE and each of its cornerstone brands and products. The Chief Marketing & Communications Officer oversees the planning, development, and execution of all marketing and communication strategies, initiatives, and operations, including market research, brand building, campaign planning, product launches, and advertising. This role is a key partner in forming business strategy and brand development plans, to drive results and accomplish ministry objectives. Knows with whom, how, when, and what to communicate. Communication is flavored with grace, respect, and humility. Listens well and willingly receives and applies feedback. The ability to relate to others in a way that brings out the best in individuals, groups, and the ministry. This also includes the team members’ insight into others. For example, listening skills, writing skills, and interpersonal skills. For team leaders, the leader has demonstrated the ability to hire and develop people on their team. The ability to think and plan strategically and translate that thinking into sustained results. Other areas include team members’ ability to do their job and understand all aspects of their role, their capacity to take charge when it makes sense and to solve problems and resolve issues. For team leaders, this includes the ability to formulate and present goals, manage their budget, see beyond the short term, and envision the longer-term big picture. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Public Relations, Communications, similar discipline, or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Marketing. (Leadership experience in the Christian Media Industry preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Corporate Communications.
  • A major market track record of success is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Management/Leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect and impact target audiences.
  • Strategic planning experience. Experience setting and meeting/exceeding goals and objectives (including revenue goals).
  • Donor development experience includes planning and implementing donor relations programs, events, and communications a plus.
  • Technical knowledge and proficiency with market research data analysis.
  • Project management experience: with a proven ability to plan, organize, lead, and direct projects.
  • Detail oriented with creative problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, establishing and meeting performance/ministry goals.
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality. Need to be seen as a team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the social sector with a passion for our mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively influence our culture, leading by example in demonstrating collaboration, innovation, creativity, empowerment, and service, while being a faithful witness on and off the job of K-LOVE’s mission to create compelling media that inspires and encourages our audience to have a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • As a member of the Ministry Leadership Team (MLT) and Creative Leadership Team (CLT), contribute to long term vision, planning, and implementation through strategic initiatives, collaboration, prioritization, communication, and evaluation of results, while preserving K-LOVE’s reputation for integrity and excellence.
  • Engage CEO on Marketing/Communication issues, trends, and proposals for strategic initiatives and delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with other functional areas such as Programming/Podcasting teams, Finance, Engagement, Legal, Human Resources, as well as other departments.
  • Assess Marketing/Communication performance against both annual goals and plans. Provide strategic recommendations based on operational analysis, research, and projections, cost identification and allocation, and resource analysis. Ensure tools and systems are in place to provide critical operational and project information to the CEO, and others and make actionable recommendations on both strategic goals and operational constraints.
  • Provide leadership for the Marketing and Communication function and Teams, ensuring ministry wide collaboration and communication, facilitating appropriate resolution of issues, and competing priorities. Ensure alignment of department initiatives with Ministry objectives.
  • Responsible for developing and marketing K-LOVE and each of its brands and products.
  • Lead the establishment of K-LOVE’s Marketing and Communication programs, ensuring all Team Members understand and utilize a disciplined approach in all marketing activities.
  • Work with MLT to create Marketing strategies and goals, working with all departments to execute those strategies and goals.
  • Works with MLT to connect K-LOVE audiences to K-LOVE media content.
  • Works with MLT to connect our audiences with donation opportunities which increase revenue for K-LOVE.
  • Work with brand and product teams to help create development roadmaps for all ministry-wide Marketing initiatives.
  • In collaboration with peer leaders, establish key Marketing metrics for success and provides effective reports to monitor progress.
  • Responsible for on-going marketing research to provide key marketplace and audience insights that inform business decisions.
  • Work closely with Data Science team to ensure critical dashboards are developed, maintained, and utilized for regular Marketing reporting.
  • Partner with each business/brand/product owner to provide marketing services, brand management, and communication.
  • Oversee all campaigns, creative development, brand expression, and channel management to ensure best-in-class brand building, marketing, and communication coordination.
  • Act as a key coordinator of cross-promotional Marketing opportunities between each of K-LOVE’s brands, as well as outside Marketing partnerships.
  • Build outside industry relationships, acting as a key representative for K-LOVE and each of its brands.
  • Participate in appropriate industry-related events, positively representing the ministry.
  • Collaborate with business owners helping to inform and build new business models, looking for opportunities to generate new audiences, revenue streams, and product innovation.
  • Identify critical agency needs, ensuring agency partners are effective in serving the various needs of K-LOVE (research, branding, advertising, etc.). Act as primary relationship owner for agency of record.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the communication strategy and direction for acquisitions, internal communication initiatives, newsletters, and ministry special events.
  • Oversee external communications efforts to include media relations strategies, serves as an on-the-record spokesperson for the Ministry and responds to requests for comment/information
  • Approve the writing and production of special reports, executive messages, fact sheets, brochures, newsletters, etc.
  • Provide strategic communication support to the CEO and the Ministry Leadership Team in the form of talking points, speeches, and other resources.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal boundaries, current FCC (and other appropriate governmental agencies) regulations and engage in on-going partnership with Legal to ensure compliance and protection for K-LOVE.
  • Provide strategic leadership, mentoring and developing a highly competent and responsive Marketing/Communication team, ensuring alignment of goals and ministry initiatives with K-LOVE’s mission.
  • Foster a learning environment where training, risk management, operational best practices, and biblical values go hand in hand with creative and entrepreneurial solution that best fulfill the ministry’s mission.
  • Creative and engage with a strategic vision to deliver a high-quality product.
  • Provide functional leadership to Marketing/Communication departments.
  • Use the K-LOVE Leadership Framework in setting professional goals for self and direct reports. Actively seek and partake in training & education to deepen Biblical understanding, media/business acumen, leadership knowledge, interpersonal awareness, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the qualities of a life-time learner in the disciplines relevant to effectively lead and perform job duties by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training.
  • Actively participate and contribute to ministry wide initiatives and projects like Gratitude Fest, Daily Prayer, All Team Meetings, All Team Celebrations as announced. These initiatives, and others, are key components of the ministry, our culture and more fun to do together!
  • Support and contribute to ministry endeavors by following employment policies and practices and supporting a safe and healthy work environment. Specifically, follow K-LOVE’s Injury Prevention and Safety program, support and maintain safety standards, and participate in safety training.
