About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer will serve as a strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Leadership Team, playing a central role in shaping Johnson Outdoors’ next phase of disciplined growth and enterprise capability-building. The next CFO will inherit a stable financial foundation and strong governance discipline, while carrying a clear mandate to elevate the finance function into a best in class forward-looking, analytically driven decision engine for the enterprise. They will provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight of all financial operations, ensuring organizational integrity, growth, and long-term sustainability. As a key member of the executive team, the CFO partners with the CEO and Board to shape corporate strategy, optimize financial performance, and drive initiatives that enhance shareholder value and resilience across global markets.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in finance, accounting or equivalent.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of financial leadership experience in a complex, global, publicly traded company.
  • Experience serving as the primary executive accountable for the overall financial performance of a company.
  • Deep knowledge of SEC reporting requirements, SOX compliance controls, public market dynamics, and investor relations best practices.
  • Demonstrates advanced leadership capabilities with a proven ability to successfully lead multiple diverse teams across global locations.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively partnering with executive leadership teams to prioritize organizational and financial initiatives.
  • Expertise in leading strategic planning, FP&A, treasury, tax, and risk management initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of digital finance transformation and data analytics.
  • Exhibits strong initiative and sound decision-making skills to advance organizational strategy and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills to successfully interact with internal teams, the Board of Directors, and with various external organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes global financial strategy aligned with organizational growth objectives.
  • Serves as chief financial strategist, advising the executive team and Board on financial trends, regulatory changes, and market dynamics.
  • Drives enterprise-wide initiatives that strengthen financial resilience and shareholder confidence.
  • Leads global FP&A to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making and operational excellence.
  • Owns the annual operating plan and long-range planning process, ensuring alignment across regions, business units, and functional areas.
  • Leverages advanced analytics and digital tools to optimize financial performance across digital commerce, product innovation, engineering, and operational functions.
  • Partners with business leaders to translate strategic initiatives into measurable financial outcomes, including ROI analysis for investments, innovation projects, and market expansion.
  • Ensures timely and accurate consolidated financial statements, and SEC filings.
  • Ensures strong internal controls and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees external audit processes and ensure effective resolution of findings.
  • Optimizes capital management strategy, including debt management, dividend strategy, and other potential uses of excess capital.
  • Oversees cash flow, liquidity, foreign exchange, hedging strategies, and banking relationships to support growth and mitigate risk.
  • Leads investor relations including earnings preparation, guidance philosophy, and engagement with analysts and rating agencies.
  • Leads global tax strategy, compliance, and transfer pricing policies to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Partners with Legal on entity governance and intercompany arrangements.
  • Develops and oversees enterprise risk management strategies addressing financial, operational, and cybersecurity risks.
  • Establishes frameworks for risk identification, assessment, and mitigation across global operations.
  • Oversees internal audit priorities beyond financial statement audits, ensuring timely remediation of findings.
  • Leads business continuity planning and financial crisis response playbooks to safeguard organizational resilience.
  • Collaborates with Supply Chain leadership on cost optimization, working capital excellence and productivity initiatives.
  • Supports commercial teams on pricing integrity, portfolio profitability, and e-commerce economics.
  • Leads M&A and corporate development strategies which includes oversight of financial analyses of M&A and strategic transactions.
  • Leads forward-thinking strategies that leverage technology to drive efficiencies.
  • In partnership with CTO, drives scalable financial systems that enable advanced analytics to drive decision-making.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • In partnership with human resources, performs human resources responsibilities for staff, which includes but is not limited to the following: hiring and terminating employees, promotions/pay adjustments, staff development, performance evaluations, resolution of employee concerns and disciplinary counseling.
  • Oversees the development of budgets and ensures budgets are managed within approved guidelines.
  • Oversees the development and approval departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines to meet business needs
