About the position

Central Bank is seeking an experienced Chief Accounting Officer to lead our Accounting division. As the Chief Accounting Officer, you will work under the direction of the CFO of Central Bancompany. You will be responsible for the strategic direction and success of the Corporate Accounting divisions. The Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) is a key executive leadership role responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions within the organization. The CAO ensures the integrity of financial records, compliance with regulatory requirements, and alignment with the company's strategic goals. This role requires extensive knowledge of banking industry regulations, a strong understanding of financial management, and exceptional leadership capabilities. The team today is comprised of ~30 professionals serving our organization. In this role you will work closely with many divisions to support our growth, collaborating with the our Corporate business lines and Markets within our footprint. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and banking regulations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and external auditors.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop financial strategies that support the bank's growth and profitability.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to the CEO, CFO, and Board of Directors regarding financial performance, forecasts, and risk management.
  • Implement and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard the bank's assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Work closely with the internal audit team to identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, external auditors, and other financial institutions.
  • Ensure the bank's compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Leverage technology to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance financial reporting capabilities.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in accounting technology and practices.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Recruit, train, and retain top accounting talent to ensure the team meets the evolving needs of the organization.
