About The Position

The Chemotherapy RN is a professional nurse who is educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. Competency is determined by demonstrated possession of the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for this position. The registered nurse provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, the Accreditation Standards, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services. As such, this performance evaluation is based on these standards. Requirements

  • Graduate from NLN School of Nursing.
  • Current unrestricted Mississippi State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherpy Immunotherapy Certificate Course required at hire or completed within 2 weeks of hire date.
  • All RNs are required to complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
  • Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
  • Appropriate nursing practice/experience within the past five (5) years or evidence of successful refresher program.
  • Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.

Nice To Haves

  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred
