About The Position

We are seeking a safety conscious professional like you to join our Analytics and Materials Characterization group in Beachwood, OH. The Analytics and Materials Characterization team is dedicated to analytical problem solving through a variety of characterization techniques, including microscopy, spectroscopy, thermal analysis, elemental analysis and physical testing. We specialize in the analysis of catalysts, energy materials and zeolites/molecular sieves. The laboratory is high volume and has a fast-paced environment, supporting the research of BASF scientists in North America and globally.

Requirements

  • A MS in Chemistry or equivalent or BS/BA in Chemistry or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis techniques for catalysts and battery materials.
  • Prior experience working in an ISO regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operating a scanning electron microscope, evaluating energy dispersive X-ray spectrums, and preparing samples using diverse microscopy techniques.
  • Delivering direct analytical support to the BASF R&D organization.
  • Ensuring the timely preparation of various material types, including fresh and spent catalysts, battery materials, and zeolites.
  • Utilizing a SEM equipped with EDS system to develop and implement new sample preparation methods, troubleshoot processes, and work to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Troubleshooting processes within the laboratory and/or plant settings.
  • Reporting analytical data to researchers via the LIMS system.
  • Providing assistance as needed in additional areas of analysis.
  • Maintaining rigorous quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and precision of reported data by adhering to ISO and quality standards.
