Charge Nurse (RN), Ambulatory Surgery Center - Full-time

About the position

The Charge Nurse is responsible for the day-to-day smooth running of the facility, including coordinating breaks/lunches, daily log checks, schedules, and enforcing policies. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting nursing care of patients in accordance with established Federal, State, and accreditation standards. The Charge Nurse participates in direct patient care and maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct patient care in the operating room.
• Ensure proper techniques and practices are used according to accepted standards.
• Report unusual occurrences to charge personnel and document appropriately.
• Demonstrate primary nursing accountability through coordination, communication, and continuity of patient care.
• Assess, prioritize, plan, and implement patient care effectively.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and other staff.
• Participate in continuing education/in-service training and staff meetings.
• Assist in training new staff when needed.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of Charge Nurse/management experience required, preferably in an Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), and/or hospital.
• Experience managing a team of at least 20 direct reports preferred.
• Previous Nursing experience in Operating Room (OR), ASC, Pre-Op/Post-Op, PACU, or ICU required.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
• Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Valid Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Experience with infection control preferred.
• Favorable result on Background Check required.
