About the position

The Charge Capture Specialist I is responsible for the clerical support of the surgery department by reviewing logging of surgical procedures, preparing patient charges, auditing records for accuracy, and maintaining records and preparing reports. Other responsibilities include assisting visitors, physicians, and staff as necessary, providing effective communication within the operating room, maintaining a safe, orderly office environment, and assisting in the orientation of new secretarial staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in a secretarial/customer service role
  • Above average computer knowledge required (Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment, and supplies helpful
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
  • Ability to type 50 wpm minimum
  • Ability to operate communication systems (telephones, fax, scanners)
  • Customer service orientation with effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to organize workload, accomplish goals and objectives, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to establish priorities, delegate when required, and follow up in problem solving
  • Quality orientation and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a quiet environment
  • Ability to multitask

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical related experience preferred
