About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for an OPS (Other Personal Services) position located at Apalachee Correctional Institution in the Chaplaincy department. The mission of the Bureau of Chaplaincy Services is to provide comprehensive spiritual care and support to inmates, staff, and their families. This is achieved through the coordination and delivery of religious programs, worship services, pastoral counseling, and educational opportunities. The Bureau aims to foster an environment of hope, healing, and personal growth, promoting the overall well-being and rehabilitation of inmates while respecting diverse faith traditions and beliefs. This position is not a Telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

• Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Must possess one year of professional experience as a clergyperson or one year of related experience.
• Must possess a current written approbation or endorsement by the appropriate official of the ecclesiastical body.
• Must pass a Level 2 background check.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, implement, and coordinate supervision for dynamic Chaplaincy Services programs.
• Provide pastoral care, conduct worship services, and teach religious education classes for inmates.
• Administer the Certified Food Option Program and the Religious Diet Program.
• Maintain detailed records, submit comprehensive reports, and process documentation related to chapel activities and the diet program.
• Supervise the volunteer program and support the Senior Chaplain with institutional visits and meetings.
