About the position

The Change Management Engineer position at Rocket Lab is crucial for overseeing the introduction of Engineering Changes and process improvement activities into Production processes for the Electron, Neutron, and In-Space vehicles/components. This role involves managing change requests, providing planning and project coordination, maintaining an accurate Bill of Materials for each build, and collaborating with Supply Chain and Production to ensure item master data is up to date. The Change Management Engineer is also responsible for approving and releasing assembly/vehicle configurations in a timely manner to support the Production schedule and ensure a successful launch manifest. Continuous improvement of the Engineering Change process is also a key responsibility of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Ongoing maintenance and development of the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process, including all tools and processes.
  • Reporting on open and closed Engineering Changes, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Facilitating the submission of new changes for review and decision-making.
  • Working with contributors to ensure efficient implementation of major ECRs.
  • Providing regular reporting on the progress of Engineering Changes against the project schedule.
  • Ensuring on-time delivery of Vehicle Bill of Materials (BOM) to meet production schedules.
  • Checking design data accuracy and completeness before release to Supply Chain and Manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in a design and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Engineering design, CAD, Engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of the Engineering Change Process and associated Configuration Management.

Nice-to-haves

  • PDM and other CAD file database experience.
  • Understanding of Engineering change and associated part numbering and revision schemes.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Databases.
  • ERP Experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Proven communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships.
