About the position

The Certified Teacher position at Chickasha Public Schools is designed to ensure that all students acquire essential skills at each grade level, preparing them for post-secondary opportunities. The teacher will implement instructional programs aligned with district standards, create a conducive learning environment, and foster student engagement and good study habits.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with School Board Policy and follow professional development requirements.
  • Plan and implement a program of instruction that adheres to district philosophy and standards.
  • Create purposeful lesson plans that maximize time on task and adhere to curriculum maps.
  • Establish a classroom environment conducive to learning using various teaching strategies.
  • Encourage student enthusiasm for learning and develop good study habits.
  • Provide progress and interim reports as required.
  • Prepare a substitute folder with necessary information for site leadership.
  • Plan assignments for paraprofessionals, tutors, and volunteers as needed.
  • Recognize learning differences and make appropriate referrals.
  • Demonstrate a strong grasp of subject matter and effective communication skills.
  • Stay current in subject matter knowledge and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Assist in the ongoing curriculum revision process.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and apply them consistently.
  • Supervise students during school hours and maintain safety.
  • Communicate positively about the school program to the public.
  • Work cooperatively with parents and guardians to enhance the educational program.
  • Attend professional development workshops and meetings as required.
  • Evaluate student accomplishments using various assessment methods and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Respect confidentiality of student records and information.
  • Prepare for distance learning strategies and utilize technology effectively.
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Assist in implementing District Initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate.
  • Ability to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
  • Ability to establish a positive learning environment.
  • Computer literacy and effective communication skills, both orally and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with community organizations.
  • Ability to react productively to change and relate courteously with children and adults.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with distance learning strategies and technology integration.
  • Knowledge of supplemental services for diverse student needs.
