About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Certified Surgical Technologist I or II for the Main OR in Charlottesville, VA. This is a full time, Day shift from 7AM to 5PM with required call. Call requirements: 6 to 7 shifts per 6-week schedule. Sign on Bonus up to $15,000 available for qualified candidates! Performing an average of 7,000 cases each year, the Operating Room at SMJH has 8 OR suites and offers a variety of service lines including; Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. It is also the 2nd highest-performing OR in the Sentara system for Orthopedic total joint procedures. The Surgical Technologist ensures that the operating room is properly prepared with the necessary instruments and equipment and assists the surgical team throughout the procedure by passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon. The role involves maintaining patient safety and ensuring that the surgical environment is organized, clean, and sterile. The Surgical Technologist assists in applying dressings, securing surgical drapes and transferring patients to recovery areas. Adheres to infection control protocols and sterile techniques to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety. Works closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth and effective procedures. Requirements

  • Trade School Graduate – Surgical Technologist (Required)
  • Students in the process of completing a Surgical Technologist Program may be considered.
  • Licensed Surgical Technologist – Virginia (Required)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Certifications - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR Tech in Surgery TS-C - Certification - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) Required.
  • Strong understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety protocols.
  • Strong communication skills with providers and surgical staff required.
