About the position

The position involves assisting in the preparation of clinic areas and exam rooms, as well as supporting patient intake and discharge processes. The role requires measuring vital signs, transporting patients, and assisting providers with patient care procedures. Additional responsibilities include collecting specimens, documenting in medical records, maintaining supplies, and participating in educational programs. The Medical Assistant will also assist with maintaining patient records, contacting patients and families, and ensuring compliance with corporate policies and HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in preparation of clinic area/exam rooms.
  • Assists with patient intake and discharge.
  • Measures vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight.
  • Assists in transporting/directing patients to clinic areas.
  • Assists providers and other staff members with patient care procedures.
  • Collects specimens as directed.
  • Documents in the medical record as required.
  • Assists in ordering and maintaining supplies.
  • Participates/attends educational programs.
  • Assists with maintaining patient records.
  • Contacts patients/families as directed by providers or licensed nurses.
  • Maintains a clean work environment.
  • Assists with referral tracking.
  • Assists with ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Adheres to the terms and conditions set forth in BSHC's corporate compliance program.
  • Ensures confidential information in accordance with BSHC's policy and current HIPAA regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current training completion certificate as a Medical Assistant required.
  • Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • Ability to administer injections.
  • Excellent customer service skills both in-person and on the telephone.
  • Priority setting skills.
