About the position
The position involves working collaboratively to maintain patient safety and provide basic patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The role includes constant observation of patients, effective communication with co-workers and families, and performing delegated tasks while adhering to established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Support the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
- Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served.
- Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi-disciplinary teams.
- Complete documentation of patient related tasks.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and communication style.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current Louisiana Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
