Responsibilities

  • Assists patients with personal hygiene and grooming in a safe and healthy environment.
  • Follows agency policy regarding infection control and universal precautions.
  • Provides personal hygiene procedures including bed baths, sponge baths, and skin care.
  • Adapts to the care needs of specialized patient populations as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Assists patients with rehabilitation services, including exercises and ambulation.
  • Reminds patients of medication schedules without administering medications.
  • Reports any emergencies or changes in patient status to the clinician or supervisor.
  • Promotes mental alertness through conversation and activities.
  • Performs household responsibilities to maintain a clean environment for patients.
  • Prepares or assists with nutritious meals and prescribed diets, feeding patients when necessary.
  • Records services provided and patient observations accurately and legibly.
  • Completes weekly time sheets and submits them in a timely manner.
  • Follows patient schedules and communicates any changes to the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write.
  • Completion of an approved Home Health Aide Program or CNA certification.
  • Previous patient care experience preferred.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and remain flexible with assignments.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license and reliable transportation preferred.
