About the position

The position is located in Clay, WV, and is a full-time role requiring a high school diploma or GED. The job involves various responsibilities related to patient care, including escorting patients, obtaining vital signs, and assisting with medical examinations. The employee will be expected to work a 10-hour shift and may be required to assist in various capacities within the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to the exam room and initiate sensitive conversations.
  • Ensure that registration paperwork is completed annually.
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs.
  • Register the patient for the patient portal and provide education on its use.
  • Evaluate responses to social determinants of health questions and provide resources as needed.
  • Pre-Visit Planning: Call patients before their appointment to gather necessary information.
  • Schedule the next visit prior to patient leaving the office.
  • Assist providers in medical examinations as requested.
  • Follow up on patient reminders and outstanding lab orders.
  • Assist with patient pill counts and drug screenings.
  • Perform federal urine drug screenings after appropriate training.
  • Collect finger stick A1c's and perform blood draws based on training level.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Annotate patient charts with lab results and contact patients with findings.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and exam rooms.
  • Counsel patients regarding scheduling and medication inquiries.
  • May serve as medical receptionist depending upon need.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid CNA License in the state of West Virginia or experience as a PCA.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to operate a variety of medical equipment such as EKG and Autoclave machines.
