About the position
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Behavioral Psychiatry at Swedish Ballard is responsible for providing essential support in patient care areas, acting as a liaison among healthcare team members, patients, and families. This per diem position involves performing clerical duties, assisting nursing staff, and ensuring a smooth flow of patient admissions, transfers, and discharges while maintaining a patient-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform general secretarial and clerical duties in patient care areas.
- Interact with patients, families, and physicians to provide information and assistance.
- Assist nursing staff in coordinating unit activities and patient care delivery.
- Prepare charts for new admissions and manage electronic medical records (EMR).
- Facilitate patient movement to other departments and assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Instruct families and visitors on hand hygiene protocols and unit practices.
- Participate in educational activities and quality improvement programs.
Requirements
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant in Washington State.
- Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in behavioral health or psychiatry.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and families.
