About the position

The Medical Assistant position involves a variety of medical assisting duties including patient triage, taking vital signs, gathering patient history, performing EKGs, administering injections, and utilizing electronic health records (EHR). The role is essential in ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate care while maintaining a clean and compliant healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain medical history, triage patients, record vitals.
  • Reconcile medication list in EHR.
  • Responds timely and appropriately to tasks.
  • Gives injections per physician order (i.e. Hepatitis A&B, PPD and flu vaccine).
  • Reports any abnormal results to physician immediately (i.e. labs, etc.).
  • Maintains clean exam rooms.
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to organizational policy and procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), required.
  • Medical Assisting certification from a nationally recognized organization (CMA, CCMA, or RMA), required.
  • Minimum one year of working in a medical facility as a medical assistant or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office, preferred.
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection experience required.
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA), required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical Assisting Degree, preferred.
