About the position

The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring smooth patient flow, assisting with exams and procedures, and maintaining accurate medical records. This position requires a blend of clinical skills and customer service to effectively interact with patients and support the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients upon arrival.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain patient records.
  • Assist providers with exams and procedures accurately.
  • Administer medications and injections as per provider orders.
  • Document necessary information in the Electronic Medical Record System.
  • Operate medical office equipment according to guidelines.
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for procedures, ensuring supplies are stocked.
  • Ensure smooth patient flow by assisting in other areas as needed.
  • Document and report lab results in a timely manner.
  • Draw blood, label specimens, and complete orders following guidelines.
  • Adhere to infection control guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Communicate effectively with patients in person and by phone.
  • Prepare forms and patient paperwork for provider review.
  • Promote positive public relations with patients and visitors.
  • Screen, prioritize, and return patient calls according to office procedures.

Requirements

  • Registered Medical Assistant (MA), Certified MA, or current LPN certification required.
  • CPR certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Prior experience with electronic medical records preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to type and operate basic office equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records systems.
  • Ability to identify emergent medical situations.
  • Demonstrated positive customer service skills.
