About the position
The Medical Assistant position involves a variety of medical assisting duties including patient triage, taking vital signs, gathering patient history, performing EKGs, administering injections, and utilizing electronic health records (EHR). The role is essential in ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate care in a medical facility.
Responsibilities
- Obtain medical history, triage patients, record vitals.
- Reconcile medication list in EHR.
- Respond timely and appropriately to tasks.
- Give injections per physician order (i.e. Hepatitis A&B, PPD and flu vaccine).
- Report any abnormal results to physician immediately (i.e. labs, etc.).
- Maintain clean exam rooms.
- Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Adhere to organizational policy and procedure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), required.
- Medical Assisting certification from a nationally recognized organization (such as CMA, CCMA, or RMA), required.
- Medical Assisting Degree, preferred.
- Minimum one year of working in a medical facility as a medical assistant or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office, preferred.
- Experience with Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection.
- BLS through the American Heart Association required.
Nice-to-haves
- Medical Assisting Degree.
