About The Position

The Centralized Lending (CLU) Portfolio Manager I or II is responsible for underwriting all credit requests, including new requests and credit decisioning within some portfolios. This role is accountable for recommending credit structures with respect to quality and profitability within assigned geographies. Fundamental duties include ensuring that the risk philosophy, risk appetite, and lending strategies are adhered to while maintaining a high level of client responsiveness. The position requires analyzing financial statements and navigating a wide variety of financial structures and credit scenarios, ensuring commercial lending activities are executed according to Truist's policies and procedures. The role also involves building effective relationships with Risk Management and client managers. This is an in-office position requiring 5 days per week at either the Greensboro, NC or Orlando, FL location, with no remote or telecommute option.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education and related training
  • Entry level experience in commercial lending, credit experience, and/or classes/training program (for Level I)
  • 3 years or less experience in commercial lending and/or credit experience (for Level II)
  • Rudimentary commercial lending, underwriting, and regulatory knowledge (for Level I)
  • Comprehensive commercial lending, underwriting, and regulatory knowledge (for Level II)
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Understanding of financial and cost accounting principles
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated proficiency in commercial lending systems (for Level I)
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or equivalent financial industry training (for Level II)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in commercial lending systems (for Level II)

Responsibilities

  • Support the commercial lending process through underwriting, policy knowledge, credit structuring, and risk assessment in credit request packages in a small or homogeneous portfolio.
  • Ensure credit request packages are complete, accurate and thoroughly documented.
  • Analyze and/or recommend adjustments to financial statement spreads.
  • Interact with client, verbally and in writing, on pending loan requests or portfolio management actions.
  • Understand and articulate all Truist Wholesale Credit policies, procedures and processes.
  • Recommend credit within the Bank's risk appetite, and document when and why exceptions are appropriate.
  • May require specialized underwriting skills for Commercial and Industrial, Commercial Real Estate, SBA lending, and other product offerings.
  • Exercise prudent credit judgment through individual loan authority, if applicable.
  • Keep abreast of changing business and economic developments which impact the loan portfolio, its profitability, risk management and banking in general.
