About the position
The Central Services Technician I plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of patient care by performing various sterile processing functions. This includes the decontamination, quality assurance, sterilization of medical equipment, and distribution of sterile surgical instruments. The technician is responsible for identifying and addressing equipment failures and potential hazards that could pose risks to patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of sterile processing functions.
- Ensure proper decontamination of surgical instruments.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on sterilized equipment.
- Sterilize medical equipment and surgical instruments.
- Distribute sterile surgical instrumentation to various areas and outside service contracts.
- Identify and remedy equipment failures and hazards that pose risks to patients.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- 1 year of central supply experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of nursing procedures, aseptic technique, medical terminology, and infection control is preferred.
- WI-Certified and Registered Central Service Technician is preferred.
- IL-Certified and Registered Central Service Technician is required within 18 months of employment.
