Point Quest is seeking dedicated CE Special Education Teachers to join our team in Hayward, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Valid CA Special Education Credential (Intern, Preliminary, Clear, Level 1, or Level 2 acceptable)
  • Educational Specialist Credential in Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe disabilities, depending on classroom assignment
  • 2–5 years working with students with learning and/or social-emotional needs
  • Experience running a special day class and implementing curriculum and behavior interventions
  • Strong written and verbal English communication, including business writing
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Computer literate with knowledge of standard software and internet applications
  • DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance required

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Special Education strongly recommended
  • Pro-Act, CPI, and/or CPR certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create and submit lesson plans each Friday for the following week. Plans must accommodate various student levels, include assessment procedures, outline content standards, and specify curriculum used.
  • Oversee and direct paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom. Primary classroom supervision responsibility rests with the teacher, with support from Program Supervisors and Site Administrators.
  • Manage the classroom's Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program, including tracking behavior points, maintaining the student store, communicating with families, and entering daily behavioral data into Point Quest's database.
  • Maintain an engaging and safe environment by implementing behavior plans, modifying state-adopted curriculum, and employing strategies tailored to students with various disabilities.
  • Attend IEP meetings for assigned students. Write annual IEP updates in coordination with the school district and enter all updates (Present Levels, BIP, ITP, and Goals) into SEIS at least 7 days prior to each scheduled meeting.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and outside agencies to effectively support each student's education.
  • Design data-driven learning experiences and conduct summative assessments with each student no fewer than three times per year.
  • Participate in twice-monthly teacher meetings and monthly all-staff trainings. Additional outside professional development is strongly encouraged.
