CDL Rear Load/Fork/Crane Truck Driver
About The Position
Interstate Waste Services is seeking Commercial Rear Load Garbage Truck Drivers who are willing to also operate a Fork Truck/Crane Truck as needed. This position is based in Bernardsville, NJ, with an hourly pay rate of $27.04. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with an early start time of 5 am to 3:30 pm. Interstate Waste Services is a leading provider of solid waste and recycling services, serving Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, and expanding into Pennsylvania and Ohio. Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid Class A or B CDL.
- Airbrake Endorsement.
- 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
- Great Safety Record and Clean MVR.
- Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations.
- Ability to speak & read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic & signals, respond to official questions & make legible entries on reports & records.
- Ability to read & understand a map.
- Meet physical & safety requirements of the position.
- Willing & able to work required worked hours as allowed under DOT regulation & may include weekend, night &/or holiday work.
Nice To Haves
- Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is highly preferred.
- Willingness to drive a Fork Truck/Crane Truck as needed.
Responsibilities
- Safely operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
- Transporting material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility, potentially making multiple trips per shift.
- Operating both manual and automatic trucks.
- Navigating through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
- Performing highly skilled backing maneuvers.
- Routinely climbing in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
- Performing driver pre and post inspections.
- Ensuring the truck is in compliance with IWS's safety standards, OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws before and during operation.
