About the position

Beacon Building Products is seeking a dedicated CDL A Local Boom Truck Driver to join our team in Greenville, SC. As a driver for our private fleet, you will be responsible for delivering a variety of building materials to our customers in a safe and efficient manner. Our company is the largest publicly traded distributor of commercial and residential roofing materials and complementary building products, with a fleet of over 2,000 professional drivers. In this role, you will be expected to deliver roofing, windows, decking, insulation, specialty lumber, waterproofing, and air barrier systems to contractors across the U.S. and Canada. You will have the opportunity to work Monday through Friday, with no nights or weekends, and you will be home daily. The position requires a day shift starting at 6:30 AM, depending on contract needs, and you will be responsible for deliveries within 100 miles of Greenville, SC. The job involves touch freight, meaning you will need to strap down loads and may be asked to support with sit-down forklift operations. We offer competitive hourly wages with a minimum of 40 hours a week, paid overtime, and various bonuses, including a driver referral bonus. Our benefits package is comprehensive, beginning on the first of the month following the completion of your first 120 hours worked, and includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as wellness benefits and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Responsibilities

  • Always prioritize safety and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Pre-inspect truck, load materials, and verify load accuracy.
  • Set up job perimeters and inspect the site for safety before unloading.
  • Communicate regularly with dispatcher to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Report potential on-site hazards to branch management.
  • Keep logbook up-to-date at all times.
  • Adhere to and understand safety policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a CDL A license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 1 year of prior and verifiable experience driving a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Experience handling building materials is highly preferred.
  • Forklift experience is preferred.
  • Hazmat Endorsement is a plus but not required.
  • Crane Certification (NCCCO) is preferred.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. as necessary.
  • No convictions or offenses involving DUI, DWI, careless or reckless driving, or suspensions/revocations within the past 10 years.
  • No more than 1 moving violation within the past 36 months.
  • No more than 1 preventable accident in the last 36 months.
  • Must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) testing and physical requirements and be knowledgeable of DOT regulations.
  • Must be able to pass a required DOT physical and drug screen.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Should prefer working in a team environment but be comfortable working on independent tasks.
