Responsibilities

  • Operating power unit equipped with multi-speed transmission (Automatic or Manual) safely by adhering to all safety requirements
  • Perform a variety of duties in the operation of the Warehouse Department such as moving slabs, yard organization and/or maintenance in addition to driving company truck for delivery of quartz slabs.
  • May plan route to insure most economical use of time and equipment.
  • Completing all applicable paperwork. Maintain up-to-date Driver Log throughout the duration of each shift.
  • Will gather documentation of ordered materials, delivery and COD to utilize during the routed and scheduled deliveries.
  • Operate forklift, as needed, in order to assist in the yard area when needed.
  • Perform inspections of mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment of truck unit before, during, and after trips, including gauges, lighting and electrical systems, and visual checks of potential water, oil, fuel and air leaks and refer defects or repairs to supervisor; keep equipment clean.
  • Assist in the installing and maintenance of traffic control devices.
  • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Observing and complying with rules and regulations of the Ministry of Transportation and the Highway Traffic Act.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License - Class A.
  • One (1) year relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
  • Knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
  • Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.
  • Must have excellent safety and compliance record
  • Must have excellent driving skills
  • Flexibility to accommodate different start times
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Able to work with tight deadlines in a multi-task, high priority environment
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization.
