About the position
The CDI/UM Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the Care Coordination Manager or CDI/UM Manager by facilitating the determination of medical necessity and the appropriateness of healthcare settings for patients. This position involves direct interaction with payers to provide clinical information and coding necessary for coverage decisions, ensuring compliance with the health system's mission and policies.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Care Coordination Manager or CDI/UM Manager in determining medical necessity and appropriateness of healthcare settings.
- Work directly with payers to supply clinical information from medical records.
- Transmit demographic data to payers and other relevant individuals.
- Ensure accurate documentation of ICD and CPT codes for payer review.
Requirements
- Specialized training/degree in Health Information Management (HIM), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Medical Office Assistant (MOA) preferred.
- Two years of equivalent work experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Meditech, and Outlook preferred.
- Excellent organization, communication, and administrative skills required.
- Broad knowledge and documented competency with computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office products.
Nice-to-haves
- Training in ICD and CPT coding preferred.
