About the position

The CBAS Information Technology Specialist at Middle Tennessee State University plays a crucial role in supporting the technological needs of students, faculty, and administrators within the College of Basic & Applied Sciences. This position involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer systems, ensuring that all technology resources are effectively utilized to enhance educational and research objectives.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems in computer systems across the college.
• Provide interfacing and networking solutions for third-party research instrumentation, ensuring compatibility with institutional IT and cybersecurity protocols.
• Consult with faculty and staff regarding their computing needs and the interfacing of research and instructional instrumentation.
• Develop and promote information technology resources to support academic and research objectives.
• Troubleshoot emergent technology issues for faculty, staff, and students.
• Coordinate the acquisition, development, and use of technology resources to enhance the educational experience and faculty research efforts.
• Manage the annual budget allocated for technology acquisitions and activities.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a directly related field.
• High School diploma and seven (7) years of progressively responsible computer maintenance experience may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor's degree.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience with computer maintenance and repair, technical support, and/or end user support.
