The Tutor and Mentor position at UK Athletics involves assisting student-athletes in their understanding of course materials while promoting independent learning during individual sessions. Tutors provide one-on-one instruction to help student-athletes develop time management techniques and improve study skills. This includes helping them organize their academic, athletic, and personal responsibilities, as well as addressing any deficient study skills and habits. Tutors and Mentors are required to maintain the confidentiality of a student-athlete's academic situation and must report to all tutoring sessions on time and ready to work. They are also responsible for preparing and submitting accurate tutor report forms in a timely manner, following the policies of CATS, UKAA, SEC, NCAA, and the University of Kentucky. Any concerns regarding academic dishonesty must be reported to the CATS Staff/Compliance Office. Additional duties may be assigned by the Academic Services Counselor, and collaboration with all UKAA staff is essential to ensure the success of the student-athlete. Attendance at a mandatory orientation meeting prior to starting work is required, and candidates must bring a copy of their unofficial transcript.
