About the position

The Cath-Lab Scrub Tech position at Peace River Surgery Center involves assisting physicians during invasive and noninvasive cardiovascular procedures. The role requires maintaining patient care, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of the Cath Laboratory team. The position is full-time and primarily day shift, located in Port Charlotte, FL.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers quality service and positive interaction with customers while performing job tasks.
  • Assumes care for the physical needs of patients during examinations and procedures.
  • Assists with preparing patients for procedures and providing post-procedural care as allowed by licensure/certification.
  • Operates imaging equipment, scrubs, and assists physicians in detecting and localizing patient anatomy during procedures.
  • Provides protection to patients and staff in accordance with radiation safety standards.
  • Observes patients and equipment during procedures, documenting reactions or problems and reporting to the supervisor.
  • Records key events during procedures and enters notes and supplies into the physiologic computer system.
  • Monitors and records ECG and pressure waveforms during procedures.
  • Assists physicians in proper positioning and technical factors during procedures.
  • Maintains and cleans equipment and supplies, ensuring stock through inventory control.
  • Demonstrates ability to handle emergency situations during procedures.
  • Maintains BLS certification and can perform CPR, operating temporary pacemakers and IABP.
  • Works as a team member, assisting physicians and interpreting collected data.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility, complying with organizational policies.
  • Maintains license requirements and demonstrates basic computer knowledge.
  • Proficient in interpreting EKG, cardiac rhythms, and hemodynamic pressure tracings.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) by ARRT, or Certified/Registered as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), or Certified/Registered as a Cardiovascular Technician (CVT) through an accredited program, or 5 years of equivalent experience in an Interventional Catheterization Lab.
  • Documentation of 2-3 years of Cath Laboratory work experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Proficient in interpreting EKG, cardiac rhythms, and hemodynamic pressure tracings.
