The Cashier/Checker position at Kroger is focused on delivering outstanding customer service while ensuring a safe and clean shopping environment. The Cashier/Checker is responsible for engaging with customers, handling various payment methods, and adhering to company policies and food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers actively.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane.
• Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system.
• Handle various payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, and SNAP EBT.
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol and tobacco.
• Stay informed about current, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
• Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and report any issues.

Requirements

• Customer service experience.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
