About the position

The Applications Developer at Children's Mercy is a pivotal role that serves as the technology subject matter expert responsible for the analysis, design, engineering, development, and implementation of software projects within the ServiceNow enterprise application suite. This position is integral to the development of core functionality and existing ITSM applications, as well as the creation of new applications tailored to meet the diverse needs of the organization. The successful candidate will engage in collaborative efforts with key stakeholder teams to analyze and understand requirements, transforming these into valid solutions that enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. In this role, the Applications Developer will participate in platform maturity initiatives, contributing to areas such as integrations, development, and implementation. Responsibilities include engaging directly with application owners to gather requirements, producing design documents, and performing system and integration testing. The developer will also be involved in continual service improvement deliveries, developing dashboards to identify trends and service improvement opportunities, and implementing request and incident forms to streamline processes. Additionally, the role requires managing the ServiceNow instance, ensuring overall security, configuring Service Level Agreements, and developing workflows and business rules to optimize the platform's functionality. The Applications Developer will provide advanced support and guidance to ITSM Practice Analysts and ServiceNow Administrators, preparing for control reviews and participating in internal and external audit engagements. This position also involves applying data health skills across the platform and performing other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical leadership skills, be able to conduct peer code reviews, and ensure adherence to development best practices within the vendor and application teams. Responsibilities

  • Participate in platform maturity initiatives as a contributor or leader in the areas of integrations, development, and implementation.
  • Engage directly with owners/members of applications and modules to gather requirements and design solutions.
  • Produce design documents.
  • Perform system and integration testing.
  • Participate in Continual Service Improvement deliveries.
  • Develop and implement dashboards to identify trends and service improvement opportunities.
  • Implement request and incident forms including request items, task templates, configuration items, and self-service templates using Workflows, Service Level Agreements, and managing data flows.
  • Participate in the management of the ServiceNow instance including overall security, configuring Service Level Agreements, developing workflows, business rules, UI pages, UI actions, UI policies, ACLs, catalog items, scripts, and updates of existing solutions requiring revisions.
  • Provide advanced support and guidance to ITSM Practice Analyst(s) and ServiceNow Admin(s).
  • Prepare for and participate in control reviews and internal/external audit engagements.
  • Respond to user issues and questions.
  • Apply data health skills across the platform.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Research and integrate design strategies, product specifications, development schedules, and user expectations into product capabilities.
  • Work with IS Leadership to develop and evolve the current ServiceNow application environment to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Participate in process development with process owners and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years' experience, or High School diploma and 7 or more years' experience.
  • ServiceNow System Administrator Certification preferred at hire, required within 180 days.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v3 or v4 Foundation preferred.
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer or equivalent preferred.
