About the position

The Cashier position at Holloman AFB involves performing cashiering duties, including handling cash transactions, maintaining cash drawer accuracy, and ensuring sanitation standards in the service and dining areas. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including the ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed. The Cashier may also assist with general food service tasks and is responsible for adhering to safety and health regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Verify cash at beginning of shift.
  • Operate cash register, receiving cash from customers or employees in payment for goods or services and recording amounts received.
  • Compute or re-compute bills, itemized lists, and tickets showing amount due using adding machine or cash register, making change, cashing checks, and issuing receipts or tickets to customers.
  • Control, organize, monitor, and maintain cash levels in drawer.
  • Prepare reports of transactions, reading and recording totals shown on cash register tape and verifying against cash on hand.
  • Make credit card transactions and know the value and features of items for which money is received.
  • Give cash refunds or issue credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise, operate ticket-dispensing machine.
  • Complete customer purchases by scanning merchandise or inputting price into register quickly and accurately.
  • Ensure all items are input into cash registers and menu boards.
  • Ensure facility opens 15 minutes prior to meal open.
  • Practice good sanitation techniques.
  • Ensure facility is secure at close of meal.
  • Comply with energy conservation and recycling programs.
  • Comply with all Food Handlers Safety Components.
  • Attend all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.
  • Comply with all HACCP policies and procedures.
  • Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
  • Attend training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Project Manager/Supervisor.
  • Pass and maintain any required security clearance requirement and comply with Drug Free Workplace policy.
  • Adhere to Operations Security (OPSEC) standard operations procedures.
  • Adhere to Property Control Plan for management of Government Furnished Property (GFP).
  • Adhere to the safety and health program that complies with EM 385-1-1 and applicable OSHA, DOD, Armed Forces Branch(s), Federal, state, and local safety, environmental and health requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards and food safety regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a cashier or food service role.
  • Familiarity with HACCP policies and procedures.
