About The Position

At Valley Vista Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), we know that health, hope, and dreams are hard to maintain without a safe place to sleep. As our Housing Specialist, you are the architect of stability. Partnering with San Diego Behavioral Health Services and the San Diego Housing Commission, you’ll help members with co-occurring disorders navigate the journey from homelessness to long-term housing retention. The Housing Expert: You aren't just a case manager; you’re a navigator. You’ll lead outreach and engagement, helping residents stabilize their housing and stay connected to the resources they need. Community Builder: You’ll lead site-wide integration opportunities—from educational groups to community BBQs and celebrations—turning a building into a neighborhood. Clinical Partner: You’ll work with our high-risk members to assess their needs, ensuring those who need intensive behavioral health services get the care they deserve. Mobile Advocate: You’ll meet members where they are—in the community, in their units, or in our onsite spaces—to ensure they have the tools to live independently.

Requirements

  • High School Graduation or G.E.D. equivalent and three (3) years of direct services in mental health or community services; OR Associate’s degree and two (2) years of experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in Social Services
  • Must possess at least 1 year of direct service experience providing assistance as a Housing Specialist
  • Valid and current driver’s license, and personal vehicle insurance with your name listed as a driver.
  • Willingness to use your personal vehicle to drive clients to appointments and groups, etc.
  • Willingness to use your personal vehicle to attend meetings, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Lead outreach and engagement, helping residents stabilize their housing and stay connected to the resources they need.
  • Lead site-wide integration opportunities—from educational groups to community BBQs and celebrations.
  • Work with high-risk members to assess their needs, ensuring those who need intensive behavioral health services get the care they deserve.
  • Meet members where they are—in the community, in their units, or in our onsite spaces—to ensure they have the tools to live independently.
  • Provide onsite supportive and case management services.
  • Engage individuals in services according to their behavioral health and case management needs.
  • Provide outreach and engagement services addressing housing stabilization and case management needs.
  • Provide behavioral health assessment, screening, care coordination, and referrals for residents at high risk and in need of more intensive behavioral health services to maintain housing.
  • Address ongoing behavioral health care coordination needs.
  • Offer site-wide community integration opportunities (BBQs, celebrations, tenant education, and other groups).
