About the position

The Carpet Cleaning Technician position at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) involves performing carpet cleaning and floor care tasks in a commercial setting during the night shift. The role requires attention to detail, collaboration with team members, and adherence to safety guidelines to maintain a clean and safe work environment. The technician will utilize appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions while responding to partner requests and maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies.

Responsibilities

• Perform carpet cleaning and floor care tasks in a commercial setting.
• Use appropriate truck mount equipment and cleaning solutions to effectively clean carpets.
• Follow established procedures and safety guidelines for carpet cleaning and floor care.
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure cleanliness and identify any carpet maintenance or repair needs.
• Respond to partner requests and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Ensure safe and sanitary storage of cleaning products and equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent training and experience.
• Minimum of 2 years carpet cleaning experience; additional training will be provided.
• Physically able to push a vacuum cleaner for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 25 to 30 pounds.
• Ability to reach, stretch, bend, and walk during daily routine, with the ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Organized and able to build an independent cleaning schedule.
• Able to follow verbal and written directions in English.
• Customer service experience.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to work Night Shift (8:00 PM - 4:30 AM) Sunday through Thursday and/or a flexible schedule.

Nice-to-haves

• Minimum 2 years experience on motorized cleaning equipment such as ride-on scrubbers, sweepers, vacuum or extractor.
