About the position

The Carpenter position at Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services involves maintaining and creating structural systems within the facility, ensuring they are in safe working condition. The role requires performing both general and advanced carpentry techniques while participating in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the installation and finishing of all carpentry projects, including concrete work and finishing, and installation of ceilings.
  • Replace, install, and repair doors and door closers as required.
  • Maintain an inventory of parts and supplies to maximize the operational readiness of the facility while adhering to cost regulations and priorities.
  • Ensure work sites are left clean and tools are returned to the work trailer.
  • Create materials lists and pricing for projects.
  • Maintain all structural and aesthetic components of the buildings.
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting organization standards, as well as federal, state, and local standards and regulations.
  • Support and maintain a culture of safety and quality.
  • Cooperate with coordinators, department heads, and work well with staff.
  • Comply with all building safety codes.
  • Perform manual duties as requested, such as moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs, and removing trash.
  • Work independently with only normal supervision.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of how to use and maintain plant tools and equipment.
  • Observe safety precautions and respond to emergency calls for snow removal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in carpentry and construction techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and building codes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
