The Finisher, Grimm Carpentry and Construction LLC is seeking dedicated Carpenter/Laborers to join our team in Battle Creek, MI. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, and other materials. You will install essential structures such as windows, doors, stairs, and cabinets, and construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes. Additionally, you will be tasked with installing fixtures like windows and molding, inspecting and replacing damaged frameworks, and adhering to established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment. We welcome candidates with varying levels of experience, as no prior experience is necessary. However, skills in specific areas may influence starting pay. This position is ideal for those looking to develop their skills in carpentry and construction while working in a supportive and energetic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, and other materials
  • Install windows, doors, stairs, and cabinets
  • Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes
  • Install structures and fixtures such as windows and molding
  • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment

Requirements

  • No experience necessary, but skills may impact starting pay
  • Skilled in using a variety of hand tools such as hammers, saws, chisels, levels, and squares
  • Knowledge of construction painting techniques for finishing surfaces
  • Ability to install various types of flooring materials including hardwood, laminate, tile, or carpet
  • Proficient in fabricating components to meet project specifications
  • Expertise in trim carpentry for adding finishing touches to projects
  • Experience with tile and shower systems
  • Experience with drywall hanging and finishing
  • General maintenance person skills for performing various maintenance tasks
  • Framing experience
