About the position

The Independent Living Counselor at CDS Trinity Services, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities at an Adult Learning Center. Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, this position focuses on implementing programs that help individuals achieve personal outcomes and lead meaningful lives. The counselor teaches essential skills for independent living, including health and safety, culinary arts, and job readiness, while also documenting progress and maintaining a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides habilitation/treatment experiences for individuals served in the Adult Learning Centers.
• Assists an assigned group as indicated by the Program Coordinator.
• Serves as a substitute group leader when required.
• Consults with the Program Coordinator and Qualified Professional staff regarding habilitation and treatment matters.
• Completes necessary documentation to report individual progress and other required forms.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of assigned program areas.
• Suggests improvements for program effectiveness and efficiency.
• Acts as a role model for program participants.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR Certification required.
• Ability to effectively read, write, and complete necessary reports.
• Completion of 40 hours of pre-service training and participation in ongoing education.
• Excellent human relation skills and superior attendance practices.
