About the position

The Career Navigator role at Start To Finish Services involves providing advocacy and supportive services to adults with developmental disabilities. The primary focus is to prepare clients for stable employment by equipping them with essential skills and tools necessary for job readiness. This includes one-on-one interactions to teach conflict resolution, interview preparation, time management, and resume creation, all aimed at fostering independence and self-sufficiency in clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist adults with developmental disabilities find employment.
  • Transport clients to and from job interviews and job sites.
  • Provide training in interviewing skills, conflict resolution, online application assistance, budgeting, and computer skills.
  • Interact with clients' family members and other involved parties.
  • Implement goals and objectives as recommended by the program and indicated in the participant's IPP.
  • Develop rapport with clients and cultivate a safe and supportive relationship.
  • Update consumer service logs, daily activity documentation, and timecards daily.
  • Provide supervision and guidance for clients during trainings and while onsite at work.

Requirements

  • One to two years of experience providing direct care services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD).
  • Must be 20 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid California driver's license, valid registration, and proof of car insurance.
  • First Aid certification and CPR certification required.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Compassionate about the care and well-being of clients.
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, push, and lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Computer literate.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledgeable of the Regional Center process, including Title 17.
